Mode XL is a rap music duo founded in 1998 by VEYasin and Evren Besta. Their origins lie in Batıkent, a neighborhood in Ankara that they frequently reference even today. Both artists work as MCs and DJs.
Starting their career in the underground scene, Mode XL has gradually become a respected rap music group in the HipHop community. Known as the "rebellious duo" in the Turkish rap scene, their rap music style has garnered widespread admiration.
Their music draws inspiration from American South culture, but in Türkiye they performed in the "gangsta" style.

By 2008, they had released albums such as Altın Jak, Serseri Serbest Stili, and of course, their most popular album, Militanz. Thanks to these albums, they had transcended the borders of Ankara and gained recognition throughout the Turkish hip-hop scene. In fact, in the same year, the song "Düzmece" from the Militanz album reached television and, of course, the general public. For reasons that remain unclear, they decided to disband that same year.

The group's split lasted until 2012, during which time Evren Besta launched VooDoo Records and VEYasin launched Basemode Records. The impact they created in 2008 was further reinforced in 2015 with their album Mevzu Makamı. This high-quality album received praise from Turkish rap critics at the time, who described it as "above average."

VEYasin, feeling that he wasn't receiving the recognition he deserved, focused on DJing. He founded the Hey! Douglas and Kamp Records projects and transferred Basemode Records to Sony Music. After a long silence, Evren Besta announced the disbandment of Mode XL again on May 20, 2019, via Twitter with the statement, "I have nothing left to lose except my family. I burned Mode XL, which I worked for 15 years for these days."

Finally, as we reach 2021, the band's joint concert in Ankara on December 15th is another indication of their reconciliation. Looking at the present day, we can confidently say that Mode XL is still going strong after all the work they've done.
