He's a man of music, of emotion, of storytelling, of making people feel... With his unique style, the music he creates, and the words he uses, he can take listeners to different realms and lead them to different thoughts. So, we at Suikast.De decided to conduct a pleasant interview with Ceyhuni, a beatmaker living in Amsterdam, about his newly released album, " Taverna Ethnic Hiphop Technique Volume 2 ".

1) As someone who has listened to your lyrics and music, I don't want to start with questions like "When did you start making music? Could you introduce yourself a little?" I just want to start by asking where the name "beatmucit rap" came from and how you came up with it.

MT found it and made it fit. I didn't say I was an inventor or anything. I was Ceyhun. When they said, "You're an inventor," it became Beatmucit. Those around us confirmed it. And so it stuck.

2) I think that to understand the deep meaning in song lyrics, one needs to live through difficult times, be caught in storms, and then find peace. Does this apply to Beatmucit?

My inability to participate in the social race allowed me to dedicate time to my own inner struggles. I later realized that I had had my fill of everything I saw early on. I saw that we learn through laughter… People always understand things later.

3) I think your musical works are mostly aimed at conveying that you don't pursue music as a profession. Do you do any other work outside of music to support yourself?

It's not my profession, no. It's a spiritual space I can escape to from time to time. I never did it to make people listen and explain. I just realized I could do things like this. I don't have a profession. I can do any job :) We're good like this, let's see.

4) We know you've collaborated with Murat Cam (MT), a veteran rapper from Amsterdam who is well-known and respected. Besides MT, are there others you're in contact with, or considering working with musically?

I'm selective about this. Even if it's my father, there has to be some kind of harmony. It doesn't work with those who don't want to develop. Maybe if we had a cup of tea, it would work... But nobody wants to deviate from their path. They think that's a virtue.

5) From what I've seen in Türkiye, there are many fans who want to keep you to themselves, worried that your words might lose their meaning if you become too commercially successful. Would you like to send them a message?

I won't become very famous. Even if I wanted to, it wouldn't happen. Because I can't be a product. Let them exist, but they shouldn't be afraid 🙂 Water flows and finds its own path. Let it reach those who need it. But I don't think everyone should listen to it either.

6) The beats you've created seem to be exclusively for your lyrics. They're like conjoined twins, inseparable. Have you ever made a beat and had someone else sing it, or are you considering making a beat and giving it to someone else?

I thanked them. I had already started reading on my own since I couldn't find anyone to read to. They kept telling me how to read, and then they said, "Okay, read it yourself." I agreed. I didn't even know I could write. It was 2002. We were going to have a Featmucit project with people we knew. And of course, we needed to be in harmony.

7) Apart from his musical identity, what does Beatmucit Ceyhuni do, where does he go, and how does he live?

Of course, you have the right to know this. We have a large circle of friends here, but as I said, I'm selective. I can't take up everyone's time, and not everyone can take up mine. I look for quality, in a spiritual sense. I don't talk much about my music; people don't know. I've been doing sports for as long as I can remember. I take my alcohol and medication regularly. I walk.

8) Where did the idea of combining tavern culture with hip-hop culture come from?

We started thinking, "This is like a tavern," and then we pursued it further. It suited our temperament and sense of humor. Besides, we grew up listening to taverns, bards, folk songs, ballads, and traditional dances. And we're so glad we did. Hip-hop has always had it. Why would we do anything else? I mean... why would we?

9) Are there any concerts, events, or similar activities on the horizon?

Honestly, I get a lot of attention. But do I want a concert? What kind of concert? 🙂 I'm not a performer, I'm a studio guy. I didn't say I was an artist or anything. Besides, we have a ton of work to do here :)

10) Do you follow hip-hop culture in Türkiye? Are there any musicians you admire or are you in contact with?

I immediately recommend Turkish rap to everyone. Turkish rap is the best. Everyone is so good. Everything they do is superb! (I won't criticize Turkish rap while things are going to hell.) It's been a long time, but thanks to the Groovypedia channel, I'm hearing about it again. Of course, I'm in contact with some musicians.

11) Do you have a message, suggestion, or anything you'd like to say to the young people in Türkiye who are involved in this field?

Not as advice, but speaking from my own experience: They should be sure of what they are doing. And what they want. They shouldn't forget manners and etiquette. If they haven't learned them yet, they should learn them first. They come before music, but they strengthen the feeling, and real music emerges. They should eat walnuts. And carob molasses.
