SND: Greetings, Bulldozer. Could you tell us a little about yourself?

Bulldozer: I was born in Istanbul in 1974. After school, I entered the workforce, but rap music was always a part of my life. Since work and music didn't go together, I had to quit my job after military service and dedicate myself solely to music. It's very difficult being alone. I speak English.

SND: We hear you've been in the market for a long time. Where were you before?

Bulldozer: Where was I before… I was working on one hand and trying to write music and lyrics on the other. In 1996, I prepared my first demo, and I even had features with Cabbar (Nihat) and Boss (Kaya). The song was called Istanbul, but it didn't work out. There were both financial and emotional reasons at the time, and it dragged on until 2002. After seeing the ingratitude I experienced, I stopped working with rap music and dedicated myself solely to my job, but it didn't work out. Rap had become my life, it weighed heavily on me, and I decided to quit my job and just make music. And in 2002, I managed to do that quite successfully.

SND: Can you tell us a little about your first album? How long did it take you to complete?

Bulldozer: The album took a year to prepare. All the music on the album is mine, and it was released as soon as it was ready. By the way, I owe R99 Özcan my endless gratitude for his support for the album. We'll be doing great things together as soon as he returns from military service. If there had been a thank you section on the album, R99 Özcan would have been at the top of my list. But there wasn't, so I want to let him know here. May God protect you, Özcan, you're in my thoughts.

SND: Will there be a music video for your album?

Bulldozer: Will withdraw if a sponsor is found.

SND: Who do you listen to?

Bulldozer: The bands or rappers I find worth listening to, I think, were from the 1980s when I first started listening to rap. Run DMC, Fat Boys, Tonny Loq, Marky Mark, Young MC, Ice MC, Snap
(Turbo B), Snow, Salt n Pepa, (Kriss Kross, now Missy Elliot, Kriss Kross's male colleague died in a car accident), East 17, De La Soul, Arrsted Development, Noughty By Nature, Soul To Soul (especially the song Back To Life), Public Enemy, etc. etc. Nowadays, Dr. Dre, 2pac, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Bizzy Bone, Krazy Bone, Lazie Bone, Mo Thugs Family, Ice Cube, Mack 10, etc. etc.

SND: Who would you like to feature with?

Bulldozer: In Turkish rap, Karakan and Erci E., and in international rap, Ice Cube.

SND: When exactly did you start raping?

Bulldozer: If you mean listening, I did some minor work in the 80s, and if you mean making music, I did some before Cartel, but it was amateurish, I wasn't ambitious, but after Cartel I took it seriously, you could say from 1995 onwards.

SND: Besides rap, are you interested in other branches of hip-hop?

Bulldozer: I love everything about hip hop. But my main job is rapping.

SND: Is there anyone whose style you resemble?

Bulldozer: There's no one in particular whose style I emulate, but there are many people I take as role models.

SND: Are you planning to give a concert?

Bulldozer: I'm definitely planning Anatolian tours, and we'll start them as soon as possible, God willing. I'm sure that even the smallest step taken in rap right now will turn into a sprint in a few years. That's why I'll do everything I can.

SND: The final word is yours, Bulldozer…

Bulldozer: For Turkish rap to reach the world, Turkey first needs to see this music not as a fleeting genre, but as an established genre accepted by the world. We are dealing with a globally recognized and established genre, like "Rock, Pop, etc.", but RAP is at the forefront of these. Our people see those who make RAP music as temporary. We need to break this taboo first so that Turkish rap can receive the necessary recognition in our country and then open up to the world. Our people still think our style is like "Acid," something fleeting. They also claim it's not a Turkish genre. But that's very funny, because most of the music genres currently enjoyed in Turkey aren't actually of Turkish origin. At least we create a style that can be nourished by Turkish motifs.
