Snoop : Germany and Killa Hakan's crew, you're doing gangsta rap, why haven't we heard more fun raps from you?
Cem Sultan : I even made fun rap. If you remember, I had a song called "Money." Killa is exactly Killa. He's the father of gangster rap. Since I'm Cem, I'm sure my raps will reach every audience. Making people laugh, making them cry, or telling stories about life is the duty of MCs. An MC should be able to try every style. When an album only sticks to one style, it gets boring after a while. I included every style in my album. Killa has also prepared a new album, and I'm telling you this much: IT'S EXACTLY KILLA!

Snoop : There's something trending in Turkey lately: collaborations with pop singers. What are your thoughts on that?
Cem Sultan : I used to remix Rafet el Roman's "Kumral Bomba" for Turkish clubs here. I think if music comes from the heart, there shouldn't be any obstacles. I don't set limits for myself. I'm free, and I connect myself to the music I believe in. You have to make amends. You can't always be a gangster! There are women, there are children, of course, I still do Hip Hop tours.

Snoop : Most music companies in Turkey interfere with rap music. Germany has that opportunity. What's your comment on this situation?
Cem Sultan : We can say that the rap boom in Germany started and ended in 1996. No, because democracy exists here, everyone makes the music they want. But some are censored, of course. I wouldn't want to see pornographic rap on television. It's a bad example for our youth. We need to correct the mistakes made, explain things, and steer young people away from those paths.

SnooP : Yes, there's a trend lately where everyone's a gangsta, you know, you have to live it to the fullest. I think it's a bit of imitation. Speaking of imitation, this is really damaging Turkish rap, what's your opinion?
Cem Sultan : Right now everyone's Antonio Montana. I don't understand this. Why doesn't anyone admire good people, but everyone's after blood and violence? Our gangster brothers, even if they don't say it, they live the things they talk about. For example, Killa Hakan. When Killa tells a story, I believe it because Killa's life is pure gangsterism. But there are some MCs whose stories make me laugh uncontrollably. Their mouths smell of milk, but their butts smell of shit. The guy says he's a gangster. Yes, I think Pac 2 is a genie. A genie. He's driven people to hatred and bloodshed in recent years. Everyone's ready to become a killer for money, cocaine, whatever. The men are like robots. I think people should just be human. We, as the Turkish people, are all children of families. And why do people who are children of families do evil to others? They're brainwashing children to take their money. Why would a person who is a child of a family do evil to others? They brainwash children. To take money from their pockets, humanity is not dead. Just as there are evil people in this world, there are also good people. I think about the youth. When I talk about war on the microphone, my tongue fires bullets, not my hand. Instead of taking up arms, let the youth take up the microphone and fire. The essence of hip hop is peace.

Snoop : After the mixtape, we're waiting for your album. Are you considering distribution in Turkey?
Cem Sultan : Yes, I'm thinking about distribution. But right now I don't have a contract with a record company. You can announce this. Cem Sultan is after a contract, let the distribution be big. I've dedicated 19 years to this rap scene and become a rap soldier. Now things are happening and thank God I have confidence in myself. You watched our performance. I did Killa's backup league.

Snoop : Speaking of the stage, are you thinking about a tour of Turkey with Killa Hakan?!
Cem Sultan : God willing. I wish I could be on stage every day and talk with the youth. To show the face of exile. You know, Cem Sultan lived as a prisoner in exile. I also see myself as a prisoner in this exile. Priests surround us, depression, just work, work, work.
Robot life. I rebel against these things. As a Turk, I don't see the human rights in Europe that these Germans talk about; there's nothing like that here. They criticize Türkiye, but they themselves have no respect for people. All they care about is money. And I want to tell this to all the people in the world. It's actually something like genocide. They don't shoot you, but they want to kill your soul.

Snoop : Besides Killa, you and your crew from Germany, I guess we can't hear any other rap music. Can we say that the solid ones are still standing?
Cem Sultan : Yes. But the next generation is also wonderful. Youth is always our future. And I even have students. I teach hip hop to the kids on the street. They love it and manage to stay away from bad things. Hopefully, we can do even more social projects.

Cem Sultan : I'm a director. For example, KARAKAFA CLICKK. Young people between the ages of 18 and 23. When you listen to the music they're making now, you'll see Cem in it too.
