Röportajlar — Interview: Gamedogg aka Beter 72 Paylaş: WA 𝕏 f

SND: Greetings GameDogg (BETER72). Lately, you've been making headlines abroad, especially in newspapers... But Türkiye doesn't know you at all. Could you tell us a little about yourself?

GAMEDOGG: I was born in Erlenbach am Main, Germany. My real name is Ozan. I started primary school in Istanbul and finished it in Adana. I consider myself from Adana. I returned to Germany in 1982. I first encountered hip-hop in 1983. I was trained by professional breakdancers. The first rap artist I listened to was Herbie Hankock. When I was 11 years old, I participated in my first breakdance competition, and the prize I won was a record called "Hey You Rock Steady Crew" by Rock Steady Crew. Back then, in Germany, there weren't shoes or hip-hop records like there are now. Only those with friends in American bases could afford them.

I started doing graffiti in 1986. I began with sketches on paper. The first walls I painted were the school walls. Of course, I did this secretly. At the same time, I was also DJing on some nights in Germany. I was actively writing and DJing until 1990.

Besides all this, I professionally practiced many martial arts. I also worked as a head bodyguard at "Planet Hollywood" and other major discos in Munich. For a while, I was Arnold Schwarzenegger's bodyguard in Germany. I also gave interviews on these subjects to many famous German television channels.

I made my first recording in 1992. In 1995, I performed on stage for the first time in Germany. My biggest support came from Berkant, who is currently playing for Galatasaray.

But I couldn't find any support from anywhere until 2001. In 2001, I managed to establish my own record label. No matter what, hip-hop is the only thing I'll do until I die.

SND: When exactly did you start rapping?

GAMEDOGG: I started in 1991. I made my first recording around that time with DJ Ice CAP. I continued after 1995. But our resources were limited, finding a studio was very difficult. Also, there weren't many rappers in the market. I've focused heavily on music for the last 3 years and I believe I will succeed.

SND: You generally choose your sponsors from German brands, which leads to some negative criticism. Why are you working with Pitbull WestCoast?

GAMEDOGG: Many people think Pitbull Westcoast is a Skinhead brand. But that's not the case. The owner of this company is Black, and a Black person supports Turkish hip-hop. Besides that, there's also Sancezz, with whom I haven't reached an agreement yet, and I'm very happy with Pitbull. Now, let's talk about Pitbull Germany… This is another company. But the owner of this company is half-Turkish, his name is Kaya. As you can understand, German right-wingers are wearing a product made by a Black and Turkish partner. It's not a Skinhead product. I'd like to thank them for supporting me. I don't wear Skinhead products.

SND: Where did the idea to organize BM Jam come from? Is it true that this jam is the biggest jam in Germany? And is it true that you've taken on a considerable financial burden?

GAMEDOGG: Yes, this was the biggest Turkish Hip-Hop Jam in Germany. My goal was to elevate Turkish rap to a higher level. I'm confident I'll succeed. I lost €10,000 on this jam, but I say it was worth it, and I'm adding here that I'll be doing it again in May. 2000 spectators paid for entry, and the record for the highest number of attendees in Germany was held by Kan ve Ter; I surpassed them. Of course, I still congratulate Kan ve Ter. They were the first to do it, along with Sindikat. Respect Too Nuremberg. I did this much; if they do better than me, we'll be proud. The important thing isn't just holding a jam, but that each jam is better than the last.

SND: So, did Jam go as you wanted?

GAMEDOGG: There were some organizational errors, which were under the control of our German friends. I achieved what I wanted; the best artists came, and the Germans listened to all the MCs. They heard Ceza for the first time. They want more MCs from Türkiye to come. And they want to see Karakan again.

SND: Is it true that some unpleasant incidents occurred at this jam?

GAMEDOGG: Yes, some unpleasant incidents occurred, but I don't want to talk about it at all. Because everyone has their own opinion, and I don't discriminate against anyone.

SND: So, will there be a sequel to this jam, like part 2, part 3, part 4...?

GAMEDOGG: Yes, it's coming. Many media outlets have announced this beginning. I've received very good reviews, and it will continue. However, I also want to work with underground rappers in Jam. Rather than veterans, I want to work with more talented young people, whether from Türkiye or Germany.

SND: You released your first single but said you weren't ambitious. Now you're working on an album. How ambitious are you with your album?

GAMEDOGG: Since the style I've had so far hasn't brought anything new, I thought I needed a change. The style needs to progress, both in the beat and the rap. After Cartel, Karakan, and Erci E., Turkish rap is experiencing a stagnation. Nobody wants to listen to the returning artists in clubs or Turkish discos. Real hip-hop is listened to by all discos, like Wu Tang. My claim is that it's a different style, and I can't answer this question much further; I'll let the listeners decide. I can't achieve anything without them. I thank them. Let them give feedback. You'll hear my new style for the first time here.

SND: Who do you listen to?

GAMEDOGG: Wu Tang Clan, Method Man, Redman, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dog, X Zibit, Ice Cube, DMX, Nerd, Jay Z, Cartel, Karakan, Killa Hakan, Blood and Sweat, BOMB (FRANCE)

SND: So, do you follow rap in Turkey? Who are your favorite artists from Turkey?

GAMEDOGG: Yener, OndaOn, Ramiz, Sahtiyan, Ceza, Sirhot, Mic Check, but there are others I don't know yet; I can mention them if I get to know them. Sorry.

SND: Who would you like to feature with?

GAMEDOGG: Snoop Dogg, DMX, Ice Cube, Sirhot, Yener, Bushta Rhymes, Ramiz, Karakan, Kan ve Ter, Bomba (France), Killa Hakan

SND: The final word is yours (GAMEDOGG) WORSE 72..

GAMEDOGG: In the past, some dishonest people who didn't know me spread many rumors about me, calling me a con artist and a swindler. I'm speaking to young people here: ask them who I've defrauded, and show me someone. Don't believe what these people write; you will learn who is truthful and who is dishonest over time. I kept my promises, and they should too. When something is written about me, please ask for proof.

Hip-hop isn't progressing because of people like this; they're just deceiving kids and destroying their dreams. Yes, they're the real fraudsters. You're slowly starting to understand that already.

There's no number one in Turkish Rap right now. And let's stop with the West Side – East Side songs… With this album, I want to show you where this is all going… and everyone should stop battling and prove themselves. I'm tired of empty talk, jealousy, gossip, liars, and two-faced people. Anyone who wants to rise in hip-hop should come to me; I'll do whatever I can. I'll do what I say. I'm looking at the new, not the old, and I'm definitely not number one. Let those who claim to be number one show themselves.

They claim to be the kings of hip-hop, but what have they actually done for hip-hop so far, or how high have they risen to?

Nothing has happened so far, but from now on I will handle the rest and introduce Turkish youth to the market in the best possible way.

Stay away from people who don't understand hip-hop.

They're portraying themselves as record labels but are actually creating a false image. They don't understand real hip-hop and they're destroying the best MCs. Join labels that understand and work in hip-hop. Otherwise, they'll destroy you too. Time is the mirror of everything; you'll get to know me in time... Thank you to all listeners and all hip-hop fans.

Pace LION SOUTH SIDE……. BETER72

P.S.: A compilation album will be released, and we are looking for solid MCs for it. Underground artists are also welcome. This album will be distributed with a banderol in Türkiye and Germany.

The opportunity these artists will be given by GAMEDOGG Entertainment is to participate in the jams it organizes.
