Snoop Ra: We're with Tetik, one of the solid names from the Izmir coast. Tetik, the first question is usually classic, can you introduce yourself a little? Who is Tetik? Tetik: It's a classic question, but in short, Tetik is a guy who has been making music with his friends for years. Snoop Ra: When you say friends, does Tetik only do collaborations with his friends? What do you look for in the people you collaborate with?
Tetik: I don't actively seek out the people I'll collaborate with; we meet or get to know each other depending on the circumstances. But it's important that there's a connection first. I'm against the idea of two MCs getting together and saying, "Let's make a song." The obsession with making a song with every MC you meet seems too simplistic and forced to me. There are examples of this in the market; look at the collaborative tracks followed by diss tracks.

SnooP Ra: Yes, for example, I really love two hit songs about you, "Infaz 2" and "H2O," and there's Yasin in them! How did your friendship with Yasin begin?

Tetik: We met at a concert in London Bar in Izmir. I already had an interest in Ankara from the days of the "Devil's Strike" project. I've always been interested in the work done in Ankara. Later, we stayed in touch and gradually started sharing, first appearing with "Execution 2". It was a piece that brought back a part from years ago, mostly for our own satisfaction. H2O, on the other hand, comes from a 100% true story;9

Snoop RA: You and Yasin made a joint album, a new album, while you weren't home. Can you tell us a little about it? It has an interesting name, and I heard the album came about spontaneously. Can you tell us a bit about it?

The recordings were made when we went to Ankara for a concert for the "Tetik:06.06.06" event. Some of the lyrics were already ready. The rest of the lyrics, beat, and recording were done in the time left over from concerts, parties, and sleep. The whole album came out very quickly, honestly, in just one day! The name "Evde Yokken" (While I Wasn't Home) comes from the fact that I was abroad for work when the album came out. I wasn't home when the album was released : )

Snoop Ra: Yes, you have a very good stage performance. I'm glad you came out of the house so I had the chance to listen to you. I wonder if we'll see you at concerts like this again?

Tetik: Absolutely! We're preparing a concert series while we're away. But we want it to be more than just a concert; we want it to be a big show. Instead of just rapping over backing tracks from a CD and saying "hands out," we're preparing something that will entertain the audience from beginning to end and make them say "wow" as they leave. Unfortunately, current rap concerts are a bit repetitive.

Snoop Ra: Speaking of the album, I think you'll be in Ankara again soon, and we'll be able to see you again with another fast-paced album?

Tetik: Actually, the second maxi is already ready. I registered for it in Ankara before I left. My aim in this trip is to spend some time with friends and, of course, discuss future projects. I'll be in Ankara for New Year's. I won't be home again : )

Snoop Ra: Are you considering releasing an album with a trigger-brand label?

Tetik: We have an album project coming out in 2007.
You collaborated with Ege Çubukçu on his song "Yaz Geldi" (Summer Came). Ege Çubukçu is one of the veteran rappers from Izmir. How did you meet him? Some people don't know that Ege Çubukçu is an veteran, and some said it was good, while others said it was bad. What are your thoughts on this?
Ege is an easy target for both sides (those who say he's good and those who say he's bad), because he took on a task that few would dare to do. As you know, in Türkiye, rap is limited to diss tracks and tough kids, so it was easy for his style to be frowned upon. But as he himself stated, he wrote a diary, and he still stands behind it. He rapped in the underground scene in Izmir for many years. We recorded the "Viewer" album together. Besides that, Ege, Göçmen, and I have many unreleased tracks. I think people should just let things take their course a little.

Snoop Ra: I started the interview by saying he's one of the big names on the Izmir coast. Can you tell us about the rap scene in Izmir?

Tetik: Izmir continues to produce music non-stop. The first ones that come to mind are the Ha. Ko. Fo. crew and Sir Mc. They're consistently producing successful music. From what I've seen at concerts and jams, there are many more up-and-coming groups and MCs in the pipeline. Hopefully, this stability will be maintained and they won't stagnate due to minor disagreements.

Snoop Ra: What topics does he usually write about in his "trigger" quotes? I mean, I talk about everything, but are there any topics that are particularly important to me?

Trigger: The aim is to "trigger." To trigger life, disagreements, and sometimes even fun... I don't know if what I've written will make radical changes in people's lives, but if it does, great.

Snoop Ra: As someone who's been rapping for a long time, do you have any tips for those just starting out or those who have already started?

Tetik: I don't think someone who's going to do this job properly needs tips. After all, rap is somewhat instinctive. If someone is going to do something, you can't stop them. But if you ask for a wish, I'd say they should carefully consider the work they do and the results it brings. And of course, I invite listeners to be conscious consumers. For example, selling albums for money was very frowned upon. I don't think a conscious listener who cares about the creator would do that. My wish is for underground rap to break free from the internet as soon as possible and return to the streets where it belongs.
Diss tracks are part of this business. Tragicomically, they also serve a function that fuels quality. I'd prefer not to do them, but circumstances don't always go as planned. However, if it has to be done, I think it's beneficial to make it something memorable. Hopefully, I won't be forced to. :)

SnooP Ra:oo It seems like you've taken a jab at those who dissed you, and I thought my response would be quite harsh 😉
Tetik: No, no. It's not a threat or anything like that. It's just a wish that we focus on our work instead of fighting each other.

Snoop Ra: Can you explain what UTC stands for and provide information about UTC? What are your plans?

Tetik:utc, a crew member from Munich, Germany (u town click), and Roon (who made the beat for "Yaz Geldi," and Erdem Kınay rearranged that beat for Ege's album) worked together on the album "Film Gibi (Geride Kalanlar)." We also collaborated with Bela on many songs. "Yaz Geldi," "Izmir-Munich Connection," etc. Work with UTC continues. Their names will be heard soon with completed projects.

Snoop Ra: As we get to the final questions, do you listen to West Side rap? Who are your favorite foreign rap artists?
Trigger: I'm not affiliated with any particular side; I listen to the enjoyable aspects of both. But after Cypress changed and Pac died, there aren't many fans left. I listen to the songs now, rather than the MCs.
