- DJ Yeter writes about the 2nd Antalya Hip-Hop Festival… Paylaş: WA 𝕏 f

Eklenme Tarihi: 12 Eylül 2004

First of all, as Tatbikat and Ferhat-i, we would like to thank all the DJs, writers, b-boys, MCs, and everyone who contributed to the 2nd International Antalya Hip-Hop Festival, and all those who wholeheartedly support this culture, for their contributions.

Looking back, we started calculating not how far we've come, but what we can contribute to Turkish Hip-Hop culture in our 8th or 15th Festival, long before we realized it. Ultimately, the gathering of people from this culture, sharing the same environment, and exchanging ideas was one of the most heartfelt experiences that will stick in our minds. Overall, despite the lack of a huge crowd, the organization was held in a very warm atmosphere. With 4 turntables and 5 mixers for DJs, graffiti boards set up around the festival for writers, dance floors for breakers, and a special stage prepared for bands and MCs; we tried our best to help our guests. Along with the parties held during the many jams, this gathering under the banner of Hip-Hop culture will be held every year, just like this year.

In the first few hours, underground groups and MCs were given opportunities to support Turkish Rap. While we sometimes agree and sometimes disagree with those who say, "Don't include groups like that" regarding the line-up, these opportunities were given to help the groups and MCs prepare for the event more quickly. However, next year, underground groups and MCs will send their demos to participate in the festival, and if selected, they will be able to perform. Many groups and MCs registered but didn't come or couldn't come. Those who didn't show up did a great job of promoting themselves and hindering this culture. Thanks to them! Ultimately, their names were there, but they themselves weren't; they were imaginary creations. I condemn those who didn't give their excuses on behalf of everyone. The other groups are NOT to blame!

Many participants from both within Turkey and abroad had the opportunity to share the same stage. This year, the Ankara team, in particular, presented a very large crowd. Their solidarity and attitude towards the organization received top marks. We thank them especially. We were expecting a larger crowd from other cities, especially Izmir this year, but we hope to see them among us next year. The participants from our eastern provinces showed how far Turkish Rap has spread in Türkiye. The Digital Mix team from Istanbul also attracted attention both visually and in terms of performance. Fuat & Killa Hakan, who performed as "Rapüstad" for the first time in Türkiye this year, were among the most interesting groups. Killa Hakan's statement, "It's been a long time since I've been to Türkiye. I feel much better. We're in Turkey now. Forever Turkish Rap," suggests we will be seeing more of Fuat & Killa Hakan in the coming days. They might even start a Turkey tour project soon – don't tell anyone you heard it from us!!!

Everyone sees him as a jack of all trades; Tunç Dindaş (Dj Turbo), the crown jewel of Turkish Hip-Hop, was a heartwarming sight, both for his likeable demeanor and for tirelessly traveling 15 hours to support this culture. Bringing together a large group of people while doing graffiti was particularly visually impressive, especially for the writers. He and Dj Doğuş (Wyne) both painted and played music. Great job… S2K SoundSystem 4ever…

Artists from abroad, including "C-it" from France and, as a surprise, "Bomba," "AK-09" from the UK, and "Black&Biz" from Germany, have all secured collaborations with many Turkish groups and MCs.

This year, B-Boys Team 34 and Devil Dogs once again delivered a remarkable performance. Break Angel and Real Action from Antalya were among the groups accompanying them. However, due to their own organizational problems this year, they couldn't win the cup. Perhaps if we awarded a cup every two years, we could make more profit :)

DJs Ben Dj Yeter, Dj Funky C, Dj Turbo & Dj Doğuş, and Dj Walkie D put on plenty of Scratch shows for the attendees. At one point, we even had the chance to play with four turntables. Let's see how many turntables and DJs we'll be playing with next year... DJ Da Frogg said he couldn't come because he couldn't find a flight, but we would have loved to see the Türkiye director of Drum'n'Bass as well.

One of the most talked-about topics this year was the absence of Azra and Eko Fresh. For various reasons, we couldn't bring these artists to Türkiye. Much has been written and said about them, but I can say that we were very saddened that we couldn't see them among us. We would like to bring them together with their fans next year. I can say the same thing about Lewo. Buddy Peace...

And the Finale = Ceza... Ceza, who has been achieving success after success with his latest album, talked about what he endured for Turkish Rap with the crappy music programs, as he himself said. He's currently at the end of his career and will show what else can be done. No need for further words, Rapstar like...

We also prepared an intro for the festival featuring all the participants. We compiled many of the bands, MCs, and writers who performed on stage onto a single CD. Those who want to order can contact Hiphopfestivali@hotmail.com. Let's see what those who didn't come missed.

We have nothing to say about the gossip and rumors written and circulated about us. With only three days left, a veto from sponsors during such an event could have changed many things. But we hope that by working together, we were able to achieve something, however difficult, for the sake of Hip-Hop culture. Please share your thoughts and ideas with us in the guestbook. We thank both the attendees and our friends outside for their understanding and maturity. Much more has been said, and perhaps will be said, about the 2nd International Antalya Hip-Hop Festival, which featured unforgettable performances this year... As I say every year, until we meet again at the 3rd International Antalya Hip-Hop Festival next year, goodbye and stay with rap, peace...
